Remember me? *mofo*? Anyhoo, I have one of those daughter thingies and it's not easy! She's 6 going on 16. Even does the eye-rolling "whatever"...ugh! She worries about looking pretty and has a "boyfriend" named Carlos. But she's a sweet, free-spirited, generous little girl, too - she likes to give her toys away to children who don't have any and is a very talented artist! I was a little bothered by this whole "boyfriend" thing until Carlos stood up for my daughter during a schoolyard fight - Carlos and I, we're cool now.

While it is true that Adi -- now a full 5 years old! -- is both beautiful and brilliant (tphu, tphu), math is not her strength. And, despite our best efforts to avoid the beauty talk, she regularly asks, "Don't I look pretty?" It's very tricky, this daughter-raising thing.

Ha! Nice! At my house the story goes that periodically, I had to remind people how pretty I was. To each her own self-image idiosyncrasies, I guess.
